China donates 10,000 facemasks to support school reopening in South Sudan

The Chinese has donated 10,000 facemasks to South Sudan as a contribution to support school re-opening across the country.

Hua Ning, Chinese Ambassador to South Sudan told press during the event that the support from the government of China comes in two phases.

He added China will invest 20million US dollars to support the educational technical cooperation program in South Sudan.

“Today am very happy to meet with the minister of general education madam Achuil, we discussed about the cooperation in the education sector especially the face two educational cooperation program between China and South Sudan,” the Ambassador said.

Ambassador Hua Ning mentioned that the two partners further discussed about the reopening of learning institutions in South Sudan.

“We also discussed on how to support the resumption of schools and today I brought with me 10,000 facemasks as per the request of madam minister,” He said.

The Chinese Ambassador to South Sudan urged the government to continue supporting teachers and students in order to ensure their healthy return to schools.

Meanwhile the Minister of General Education Awut Deng Achuil, said the Chinese government is offering capacity building training to teachers and education manager as per the face two educational agreement between South Sudan and China.

The face two cooperation agreement on educational in South Sudan, China is training our teachers and school managers which is the key intends of investing in the educational sector in the country,” She said.

Achuil said the government of South Sudan is very grateful since the training will equip teachers and school managers with skills on how to improve the education sector in the country.
Authorities in South Sudan have resolved that all schools will be re-opened effective from October 5th, 2020.

The first phase of the school re-opening is solely for candidate classes Primary Eight and Senior Four only. Primary Eight will sit for the primary leaving Certificate examination in February 2021 while the Senior Fours will sit for their final Certificate of Secondary Education Examination in March.


Meanwhile the last phase that includes all learners will be on April 5th, 2021.
